Barbara A. Shandra, 81, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Saturday, March 9, at Gluco Lodge, Stroudsburg.
She was the loving wife of the late Peter Shandra. They celebrated over thirty years of marriage together before his passing in 2017.
Born in Paterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Thomas McAdam and the late Lillian (Schofield) McAdam.
Barbara was a receptionist and secretary at Cigna Insurance in Rockaway, NJ, for over twenty years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, shopping, and had a love for waterfalls. She also enjoyed taking trips to Disney World. She was a sweet and caring homemaker, and during the holidays, she always sent baked cookies to her son overseas wherever he was located at during the time. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Mitchell and his wife Fe, Paul Mitchell and his wife Alicia; a daughter, Karen Ruck and her husband Tom; a brother, Thomas McAdam and his wife Pat; a sister, Lynda Batson and her husband Lyn; twelve grandchildren, Robert and his husband Byron, Jackie and her husband Bryce, Amanda and her husband Ryan, Thomas, Ryan, Daniel and his wife Sheila, Kristin and her husband Vincent, Ashley and her significant other Tony, Alicia, Alexis, Jackie and her fiancé Collin, Jessika and her husband Edward; and fourteen great grandchildren, Carter, Sofia, Caleb, Sophia, Isaac, Chelsea, Riley, Danny, Tyler, Brayden, Mariah, Lucas, Liam, and Leeya.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 15 at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. Interment of the cremated remains of Barbara and Peter will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, D.C. 20090.
