In Loving Memory
Barbara Rose "Barb" Sherrodd
Barbara Rose "Barb" Sherrodd, a longtime Stevens County Resident, passed away peacefully at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington in the morning hours of September 30, 2022. Barb was born on May 3, 1935 to Clarence and Edna (Oeh) Johnston in Omak, Washington.
Barb would meet the love of her life, Donald Sherrodd, early in her life, and the two would be joined in marriage on May 30, 1953 in Arden, WA just 2 days before their high school graduation. Donald and Barb were the very first couple to be wed in the Arden Community Hall after it was built, and three years later they would welcome their first of three children, Donald Jr, followed by Patricia and Christine.
In 1965, the family would relocate to Olympia, eventually settling down in Tacoma before relocating to Gig Harbor in 1976. Barb and Don began to miss their river swims and pinochle games, so they would eventually return to Eastern Washington in 1996, settling back down in Arden. The pair went on to raise their granddaughter, Shannon Sherrodd-McGrath, in their home from the age of 1 through her teenage years to marriage, helping to provide a loving and nurturing home.
Barb and Don had an amazing life adventuring together, from hiking, camping, and canoeing together to snowbirding in Arizona, they were blessed to enjoy every moment of life together for 69 years of marriage. They even returned to the Arden Community Hall in 2003 to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their friends and family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Edna Johnston. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Donald "Don" Sherrodd Sr.; her children, Donald Sherrodd Jr, Patricia Sherrodd, and Christine Erickson; her granddaughter, Shannon Sherrodd-McGrath, along with 4 other grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her sister, Linda Waggoner.
Please visit the on-line memorial and sign her guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted in care.
