Barbara Ann Sluder

Barbara Ann Wiggins Sluder, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026. We give thanks for her 93 years of a wonderful life, and we find peace knowing Barbara is in her heavenly home on this day.

Barbara was born on September 20, 1932, in Robbinsville, NC, to the late Wayne Wiggins and the late Audrey McGee Wiggins. Barbara lived a life of caring and devotion to her family. She was so proud of her family heritage and enjoyed studying her family genealogy. Anyone fortunate enough to know her was touched by her kindness and her compassion for others. Her sweet presence always brought comfort to others.

Barbara was a devoted homemaker and a steady source of wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love for her family. She was so proud of her grandchildren, and she treasured the time she spent with each of them.

Most importantly, Barbara was a devoted Christian, a Southern Baptist, and is now in the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Eugene Sluder; a daughter, Sandra Dodd Teague; her siblings, William "Burt" Wiggins, John "Johnny" Clarence Wiggins, and James "Jim" Howard Wiggins.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carol Dodd Gregory; her grandchildren, Chris Sluder, Andrew Dodd, and Leigha Thomason; her great-grandchildren, Rebecca Sluder, Logan, Henry, and Brooklyn Dodd, Olivia and Isaac Thomason, and Cynthia Rathbone; and her siblings, Waynette Owens, Emily Denton, Ruthie Wood, Earl Wiggins, and Mac Wiggins.

A service of remembrance to honor the life of Barbara will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, March 1, 2026, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside inurnment service will be held in Wiggins Family Cemetery in Robbinsville, NC, following the chapel service.
