Barbara Jayne Smith

Barbara Jayne Smith (Leposky) of Gaylord passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the age of 74. She was born on December 16, 1950 to John and Lillian Leposky (Hoard) in Harrison Michigan. Barb loved to tell funny stories and was dedicated to her family.

After meeting the love of her life in the 1960’s, she married Kenneth Smith on March 9, 1968. Sadly, Kenny preceded her in death in 2005. Also, preceding her in death are her daughter (1968), her father John Leposky (2006), and brother Ken Leposky (2023). Throughout her life, Barbara enjoyed a variety of careers as a housewife, bookkeeper, shoe store owner/operator, ostrich farmer, pizza delivery person and mediator.

She is survived by her mother Lillian, brother Michael (Donna) Leposky, sister, Gerry Walton, son Troy (Cynthia) Smith, daughter Amy Barrett, son Tod (Sheila) Smith, Son Chad (Meagan) Smith. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Abigail Barrett, Jaylin Smith and fiancé Nick, Dan Smith and Dmitri Smith.

Services will be held at Hall-Kokotovich funeral home located at 440 E. Cedar Avenue, Gladwin, MI on Saturday, June 7 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

If attending, please wear red, which was Barb’s favorite color.

There will be a gathering for family and friends following the service.

Interment of ashes to be completed at a later date.
