Barbara Carrie Spittle, born on May 11, 1939, departed this life on January 7, 2026.
Barbara’s life was marked by her devotion to family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Terry Spittle, and her children, daughter Mary Schetrompf and son Eddie Brands. Throughout her life, Barbara embraced her role as a grandmother with pride, leaving behind a legacy of warmth for 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Arlene (Dennis) McNally, Gail (Tom) Zink, and Charles Todd (Ann) Pladek, also fondly remember her as their older sister.
Barbara had a passion for cooking. She also enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers play football, a hobby that brought her much joy and excitement.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Charles Pladek, and her mother, Gladys Van Duyne.
A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Barbara will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 11:30AM at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112, followed by burial at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 11:15AM prior to the funeral.
Barbara's kindness and love will be remembered by all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
