Mrs. Barbara Jane (Watkins) Thompson “Honey”, age 89, of Vassar, Michigan passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Hurley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Barbara was born on November 30, 1934, in Mt. Morris, Michigan to parents Alfred & Josephine (Kemp) Watkins. Barbara married the love of her life, Albert “Tom” Thompson, on March 14, 1958. She loved to read, watch western movies, play cards, and spend time with her special friend, Mary Evans.

She is survived by her children: Victoria (Michael) Lunebach of Illinois, Janet (Matthew) Christe of Bay City, Josephine (Mike) Taylor of Columbiaville, and Katherine (Dan) Coffield of Grand Blanc; grandchildren: Reid, Cole, Zachary, April, Rob, Nick, Andy, Jesse, Shawn, Michele, Matthew, John “JT”, John, Rachelle, Daniel, Aaron, and Andrew; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law: Sue Churchill, Merilyn Davenport, and Beth Estep; very special nephew, Bill (Cari) Watkins; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family; and special friends, Mary Anderson, and Mary Evans.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Tom”; son, William; grandson, Judd; brothers, George and William; and great-grandson, Nick.

Barbara’s family will welcome visitors to Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024. Funeral services for Barbara will follow at the funeral home at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024; additional visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Following, Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband, Albert "Tom", in Millington Twp. Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Hurley Medical Center 9th floor nursing staff for their excellent and compassionate care they provided for Barbara.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
