Barbara Lorraine Venters

Barbara Lorraine Venters, 96, a resident at The Barclay House passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025 at ECU Health in Tarboro, NC.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro, NC. The family.will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Born in Martin County NC. to Calvin Lee and Queenie Cox Venters, Barbara grew up in a large family with ten brothers and sisters all of whom predeceased her: Letha Mae Purvis, Bethel, NC; Raymond Venters and J.B Venters, Greenville, NC Woodrow Venters, Fayetteville, NC; Pattie Godwin, Tarboro, NC; James Earl Venters, Jacksonville, NC; Mary Tetterton, Greenville, NC, Calvin Edward Venters, Ayden, NC and Gene Venters, North Charleston SC.

She is survived by many nephews and nieces, great- and great-great nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly and has mentored throughout their lives.

Barbara devoted herself to a career in cosmetology and electrolysis serving countless clients first in her beauty shops in Tarboro and later in Greenville. It was a successful career that spanned more than six decades.

Traveling, golfing, fishing and playing cards, especially Bridge and Hand & Foot were among her favorite leisure pursuits.

However, her deepest devotion was to her faith and family. Bible study, singing in the choir, working with youth and supporting missions were just some of the ways she followed her faith and gave praise to her Lord.

It was Barbara's wish that in lieu of flowers her favorite charities receive donations. They are: Turning Point Ministries (DavidJerimiah.org), The Jesus Film Project, (jesusfilm.org) or The Service League of Greenville In-patient Hospice.(serviceleaguegreenville.org)
