Barbara Ann Walters

Barbara Ann Walters, age 62, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on, July 30, 1962, she was the daughter of the late William G. and Doris M. (Mousley) Lewis.
Barbara attended Conrad High School and graduated from Wilmington High School. She went on to earn her degree from the University of Delaware, where she cultivated her deep appreciation for history, education, and community service. Following graduation, she began her career at the Post Office before finding her true calling with the New Castle County Library System.
An active and passionate advocate for literature and justice, Barbara was a proud member of the Delaware Library Association, the Friends of the New Castle County Southern Library, and also served on the DLA Justice Committee. Her commitment extended beyond the library walls-she was a member of the For Delaware Society and volunteered alongside her husband with the Rabbit Society.
Barbara loved visiting Gettysburg and the Railroad Museum, where she found joy in exploring history and sharing that passion with others.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her step mother, Daisy Lewis. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, John P. Walters; brothers, William and Jimmy; sister-in-law, Nancy Little (Terry); nieces, Bethany McKenzie (Seth) and Lindsay Little; great nieces, Catheryne Little and Harper Huff; great nephew, Ayden Hunter; and many dear cousins and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7 pm until 9 pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A second visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Interment will be held the following afternoon at 1:30 pm on Friday, May 23, 2025 at St. Ignatius Cemetery, 486 Hoyt Street, Kingston, PA 18704.
