Barbara Jean (Steinbach) Wasmer, born November 11th, 1957, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Carl and Jean Steinbach, passed away at her home on February 8th, 2026. Barb was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Alan Wasmer; children: Scott Wasmer, Becky (David) Boggs, and Ben (Caitlyn) Wasmer; brother, Carl Steinbach; and grandchildren: Haley, Madison, and Austin.
She was a devoted animal lover and will be remembered for her affection towards her family's pets, Diesel, Sugar Ray, Chester, Emma, Salt, and Pepper.
Barb was a pillar of the Scouting community, serving as a dedicated leader and mentor.

- Silver Beaver Award recipient
- Wood Badge Eagle
Barb’s passion was empowering young scouts to explore and learn through experience. Her artistic talents and love for nature were evident in both her education and her hobbies. Barb graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor's in Art Education and Biology. She was a member of the Foothills Art Festival and enjoyed ceramics, photography, and capturing the beauty of wildflowers and wildlife.
Barb's selfless spirit and kindness touched many lives. Her legacy will live on through the countless individuals she inspired and supported throughout her life. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, from 1PM-3PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with a funeral service immediately after at 3PM. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
