Barbara Jean Welch (Elliston), 60, of Cuba, previously of Salem, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at her home in the comforting presence of her loving family in Cuba.
On October 20,1963, Barbara was born to the union of Roy Lee Elliston and Alma Martha (Gregory) in Sullivan, Missouri.
Barbara was a graduate from Cuba High School in 1982.
She worked for Brewer Science as a Product Bottling Tech for over 17 years of dedicated service.
Barbara was also a proud United States Army Reservist from 1983-1989.
She was united in marriage to Jim Welch on October 7, 2001, in Salem, Missouri.
Barbara loved all kinds of sports regardless of the teams and the players except when it came to the St. Louis Cardinals. In her spare time, Barbara was quite crafty and was a talented “Diamond Art” artist. In her younger years she very much loved being out in nature whether she was helping work on the family farm or going deer hunting. Most of all Barbara loved spending valuable time with her loving host of family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Lee Elliston; a brother, Johhny Lee Elliston; special friend, Valerie Hopwood.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Jim Welch of Cuba; her mother, Alma Martha Ray of Sullivan; her son, Jeremy Sanders and wife Jill of Cuba; one daughter, Brandy Travers and significant other, Kevin Hearst of Vienna; a stepdaughter, Ashley Howdhal and husband Josh of Minnesota; one brother, Roy Mark Elliston of Lenox; three sisters, Shirley Ann Young of St. James, Joyce Hamilton of Cuba and Rebecca Lee Hollingsworth and significant other James Hollingshead of Sullivan; seven grandchildren, Landry Sanders, Stiles Sanders, Wylder Sanders, Emma Travers, Noah James, Carter James and Jimmy Hearst; two step-grandchildren, Holden and Henleigh Howdhal; one great-grandchild, Aspon Blehm; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba.
A Funeral Service will be on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. also at Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba.
Interment will take place at Delhi Cemetery, Cuba.
Memorial Donations are appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
