Barbara Jean Williams, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 5, 2026, in Victoria, Texas, at the age of 78.
Barbara was born on August 7, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to J.L. and Gladys (Presley) Gathright.
Barbara graduated from Edinburg High School. She was a beloved business owner and senior administrative assistant. Barbara was united in holy matrimony to Dannie Williams on January 7, 1984, in Beeville, Texas. She was known for her adventurous spirit and incredible sense of humor, never hesitating to engage others with her laughter and joy for life. Whether shopping, dining out, or supporting worthy causes, Barbara truly embraced every opportunity to dress up and connect with others to spread happiness. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she cherished her membership in the First United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Windmill Emmaus Community and enjoyed attending Bible study with her "honeybees."
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, J.L. and Gladys Gathright; her husband, Dannie Williams; and a nephew, Raymond Gathright.
She is survived by her daughter, Leanne (Mike) Fox; her grandchildren, J.L., Kymberly, Rachel (Dylan Thomas), J.B. (Izela), and Ferran (David); her sister, Joyce Hughes; her brother, Jerry (Ann) Gathright; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember her fondly.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 9 at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home in Beeville.
The funeral service will be conducted there at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, with Pastor Tim Stowe officiating. Burial will follow at the Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cary Scott, John Ross Sisk, Dylan Thomas, Matthew Kaun, Matthew Quimby and J.L. Wolfe.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Fox, James R. Wolfe, Jerry Gathright, Ed Budrow, and Jarrett Tidwell.
Barbara Jean Williams leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire and uplift her family and friends. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to have known her.
