Barbara Ann Babb Wilson

Barbara Ann Babb Wilson, 86, of Marion, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville.

Barbara was born in Buncombe County, NC, on May 26, 1939, to the late Roy Gordon Babb and Kathleen Virginia Owensby Babb. She was married to the late William Daniel Wilson. Barbara was a member of Story Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Greenlee Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a teacher at both Pleasant Gardens Elementary School and McDowell Technical Community College. Barbara loved horses and raised Arabian horses on her farm. She was the proprietor of Maple Lane Antiques and was instrumental in bringing the symphony and clogging clubs to McDowell County in the 1970s. Barbara will always be loved and remembered.

In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Renee Wilson.

She is survived by a son, David Wilson and wife Amanda; two brothers, Ronnie Babb and Bobby Babb; and a grandson, Austin Tyler Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. A private family graveside memorial service will follow. Rev. Harold Webb will officiate.
