Wright Funeral Home and Cremation Service - MoorheadBarbara Louise “Barb” Winter, 71, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at HIA Hospice Heather’s House, Fargo, ND.
Barb was born on April 29, 1954, in Moorhead, MN, to Elmer and Lucille (Bruggeman) Winter. She grew up in Dilworth where she attended and graduated from Dilworth High School in 1972. She worked as a CNA at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, ND, for nearly 10 years before working at Popeye’s Offsale for another 10-12 years. She also worked as a correctional officer for the Clay County Jail for 8-9 years and then at Concordia College in the housekeeping department for several years. She cooked at Altony’s in Dilworth for another several years and made the best lasagna. She then retired due to health issues.
Barb loved to bake, especially Christmas cookies, lefse, and candies. She enjoyed flower gardening and working on ceramics and other crafts.
Barb was a very generous and giving person with what she had. She loved to call her siblings on their birthdays and sing to them out of tune and had a great affinity for dogs.
Barb is survived by her siblings, Karen (Trin) Suniga, Doug (Eloyes) Winter, Curtis (Andrea) Winter, Thomas (Claudia) Winter, and Kimberly (Rick) Young; siblings-in-law, Karen Winter and Ronald Ritter; many nieces and nephews; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lucille; siblings, Ronny Winter and Susan Ritter; and her fur babies, Porter, Ginger, Kolby, and Bud.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Barb's webpage. Final resting place will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
Barb’s family would like to extend their gratitude to HIA Hospice, especially nurse Lexy, for the special care they provided Barb. They would also like to thank Barb’s friend and neighbor, Joe Greene, for taking care of her.
