Barbara Ann Witzberger (Keeling), age 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Born in Akron on February 15, 1936, she graduated from East High School and lived in Akron her entire life. She had a long life of love and faith. Barbara was a member of New Horizon's Christian Church and was the longest attending member of the church to this date, having 86 glorious years at the church, since she was 2 years old. She was a valued member of the New Horizon's and of the Friendship Quilters with many friends throughout. Barbara's family was her world. In recent years, she loved to look at her pictures and reminisce about family and friends, recalling funny moments and prized memories. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and neighbor. She took immense joy in her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Family was the most cherished part of her life.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 63 wonderful years, Raymond B. Witzberger (2022); parents, Elzie and Bertha Keeling; son, Richard R. Witzberger (2014); grandson, Jeremy A. Witzberger (2016); and brothers, Kenneth Keeling and Harold Keeling (2024). Even though Barbara had seen a lot of loss, she always kept a positive attitude and love towards others. She is survived by her son, Steven Witzberger; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sheri Keeling; daughter in law, Terri L. Witzberger; grandchildren, Krystal L. Gaines (Witzberger), Justin M. Witzberger, Brandon Gaines, and Lyndsey Witzberger; and great-grandchildren, Billy, Brandin, McKenzie, Adalynn, Rowdy, Raylyn, and Sawyer, as well as many wonderful nephews, nieces and cousins.
Friends and family will be received Monday, July 29th from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Ali Miguel, will be held Tuesday, July 30th at 10:30 a.m. at New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Rd. Akron, OH 44305, with 1 hour prior of calling. Burial to immediately follow at Hillside Memorial Park. A reception will be held after burial at New Horizons Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Memorials in Barbara's memory may be made to New Horizons Christian Church.
