Barbara Ann "Jones" Young, 86, of Berry Mountain, Al. gained her heavenly body on Monday, November 11. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Oliver Young, Sr. who she met on a blind date April Fool's Day 1956; they were married 63 years. Mrs. Young is also preceded in death by her parents Coy Edward Jones and Maude Cornelius Jones: stepmother Nettie Mae "Stein" Jones. Siblings Paul Edward Jones and Louise"Jones" Sloan. She is survived by her children Susan Darby (David), Ralph Young, Jr. (Regina), Ann Latham (Terry), Pam Freeman (Nathan(deceased)) and Amanda Ashley (Aaron). Mrs. Young was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many more extended family. She also had a favorite companion, her furbaby "Cookie".
She graduated from Cleveland High school in 1956 and was a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Rosa, Alabama. She was a proud member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, a scout leader, 4-H leader and Sunday School teacher. Her hobbies included: quilt making, needlepoint, cross-stitching, seamstress, cooking, camping, fishing, and traveling. She also enjoyed puzzles and spending time with her family.
Visitation for Mrs. Young will be Friday November 15, 2024 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, Services will be at 11:00 am, in the funeral home's chapel. Officiated by Bro. Randy Hale, with interment to be held at Dailey's Chapel cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sand Rock Wildcats fishing team: 1950 Sand Rock Ave., Leesburg, AL. 35983.
"Mrs. Young was respected and loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and friends; but she will always remain in our hearts."
