Barney Burden entered eternal rest on July 6, 2025, at the age of 100. A longtime resident of Norwalk, he spent many years being a pillar and inspiration to many in the community. Feared for his tough exterior but loved by those who really knew his loving heart, he will truly be missed.
Born to the late Peggy Grey-Burden and Albert Burden on September 5, 1924, in Santee, SC where he attended the local school system before relocating various cities including, Detroit, MI and Washington D.C before eventually settling in Norwalk, CT. Two unions (to Elizabeth Butler and Alqueen Fludd) blessed him with eight offsprings: Daisy (Marie), Linda (Dukie), Barney Jr (Buzzy), Michael (Pee-Wee), Stevie, Kesha, Kelvin and Sean. Norwalk also provided him with the opportunity to work in various positions before becoming an entrepreneur funding the infamous Burden Brothers for himself and brothers (Alonzo, Albert (Peaches), Cleophus (Cannonball), Clifford (Frog) and Robert) and self-financed professional bails bondsman.
Services for our beloved Father, Grandfather, Pop-Pop and Uncle will be held on Friday, July 18th at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 21 Concord Street, Norwalk, CT. The viewing will take place from 10-11am with the service starting promptly at 11.
