Barney Leon “Buddy” Melton, Jr., 77, retired civil engineer with Stone & Webster, died Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Following Buddy’s request there will be no services. Memorials may be made to Williamsport United Methodist Church P.O Box 333 Williamsport, TN 38487. Online condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
He was born on April 14, 1947 in Wetumpka, Alabama to the late Barney Leon Melton, Sr. and the late Ruth Lanier Melton. Buddy received his Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University where he played football for three years.
Survivors include his wife whom he married on April 20, 1968, Judith “Judy” Ladd Melton of Santa Fe; two daughters, Merry (David) Naramore of Lafayette, TN and Melody Neal of Pensacola, FL; four grandchildren, Amber Naramore, Catherine Hillis, Adrianna Neal, and Jonathan Neal; great granddaughter, Kaislyn Hillis; two brothers in law, George (Sherry) Ladd and Ronald (Robin) Ladd both of Santa Fe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Lenier.
