TUMEY--Barney Alan, age 76, passed away peacefully July 11, 2024. Born in Egypt on May 13, 1948. Barney was a graduate of Staples High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut, followed by an MBA from Cornell University. His career was with Bankers Trust Company in New York City. He was vice president in London and then senior vice president in Tokyo. Barney ended his career at Caxton Hedge Fund. He is survived by Judy Cooper, his partner of 26 years, his son Colin, his sisters Jo Ann, Deborah (Rich), Linda (Steve), Peggy (Bob), his brothers Barney Harrison (Joanne), Barney Doug (Lisa). Barney's passion was to help people in need. He funded a young man to start his own limousine business, a single mother to start an education for her daughter and a Navajo family to repair their home on the reservation. He funded a back to school backpack program. Lastly, he contributed to a project to install solar panels for homes in the Navajo Nation. Being able to accomplish this gave Barney great satisfaction.
