Barrett Jason "B.J." Dail, age 38, passed away on November 28, 2025. He was born September
30, 1987, in Raleigh, to Merril Jackson Dail, Jr and Bridgett Tanner Lewter. He was the youngest
of 6 children and fondly referred to as "the Golden Child" by his siblings but loved dearly by all of them.
B.J. is survived by his mother, Bridgett Lewter; step-father, Robert Lewter; siblings: Tammy Kurczek (Mike), Jamie Burns (Tiffany), Ryan Dail (Maria), Jennifer Champion; step-brothers: Chris Lewter (Amelia), Jesse Lewter (Kenzie), Brett Lewter (Jackie); a host of nieces and nephews who will greatly miss him; best friend, George Adams.
B.J. was preceded in death by his father, Merril J. Dail, Jr.; older brother, Jason Burns; grandparents: Jim and Eleanor Tanner, Merril and Estelle Dail; and we can't
forget his best little "doggie son", Brewer. We are rejoicing the reunions going on in Heaven right
now.
B.J. was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh. His love for baseball started at age 3 and his career started at age 5 with tee ball and after college it spanned to a professional career until 2014. He lived by his favorite scripture...."I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me" Philipians 4:13
He loved his family and was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. We will all miss his bright smile and contagious laugh along with his sense of humor. He was a loyal friend to all who knew him. We are all heartbroken and will miss him always.
