Barry Rene Allen, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather passed away unexpectedly on September 17th, 2023. He was born in Berea, Kentucky on July 29, 1961.
He is survived by his sons, Benjamin (Birch) Allen (Faye Christoforo) Nick Allen (Andrea Allen, his wife) and Grandchild Alice Allen, his mother, Mary Allen, and brothers and sisters, Peggy Austin, Lapana Jean Bolaski (Larry), Dianna Joy Fussell, Michael P. Allen (Betty), Kenneth Allen (Caryn), Amy C. Arenas, C. Samuel Allen, Christy Gregory (Jaime Harrington), many nieces and nephews. Barry was predeceased by his father, Paul Allen, his brother, Benjamin Allen and brother-in-law, Charles Austin.
Barry was a flame in the wind. He was the definition of "Do as I say, not as I do." You could find him in his element in the woods, hunting deer; on the water, fishing for the biggest bass or catfish; or in the wind on his motorcycle, winding the backroads feeling life to its fullest. He was an avid animal lover, raising all sorts of them from racoons, a snake, a hawk, and a brood of small dogs that he loved dearly. Early in life he lived in Berea, Kentucky and then his family moved to Unity, New Hampshire and Newport, New Hampshire and then moved to Richmond, Kentucky, for a time, and the end of his life was spent in Berea, Kentucky, helping his mother around the house. He loved his children and his family and was very excited to be a grandfather. He was loved very much.
A Wake will be held for Barry on Tuesday the 26th from 6-8pm and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday the 27th at 11am at Davis and Powell Funeral Home in Berea, Kentucky, Rev. Allen Livingood officiating. You may view the service live at www.davisandpowellfuneralhome.com. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Life in the fellowship hall of Westside Baptist Church, 699 Prince Royal Drive Berea, KY. All who knew Barry and his family are welcomed to attend.
Condolences can be sent to Mary Allen in care of Davis & Powell Funeral Home, 616 Chestnut St. Berea KY 40403.
