We are saddened to announce the passing of Barry J. Bennett, on October 8, 2025, at the age of 76. Barry was born on April 9, 1949, in Summers County, West Virginia, and later made his home in Gas City, Indiana, where he lived a life filled with love and laughter. He was son, of the late Joseph S. and Louella D. (Fox) Bennett.
Barry worked as a Fork Lift Driver in the manufacturing industry, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. He took pride in his job and built lasting friendships with those he worked alongside at Fairmount Wire, Ball Foster and Moorhead Communications, as well as a short stint at the Marion Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Barry was a quiet, soft spoken man of few words. He enjoyed watching old cartoons, playing solitaire, and stamp and coin collecting. When Barry was younger he actively enjoyed jogging while his sons rode along on their bicycles, golf and bowling.
He is survived by his beloved spouse of 56 years, Roberta (Nelson) Bennett, and his sons, David Bennett and Christopher Bennett both of Fowlerton, grandchildren; Virgina Bennett, Molly (Kole) Wright, Randy (Na'Chelle) Bennett; great-grandchildren, Aiden Bennett, Carter Macak, Ember Macak, Devin Wright, Ellie Wright, Daisy Wright, and Charlotte Wright, Sarah Carter, Randy Bennett II, Axle Bennett, Diesel Bennett, Korey Bennett, Barron Bennett; siblings Sandy Roberts, Fowlerton, Diana McCoy, Gas City, and Linda Myers, Anderson; two aunts and uncles, and several nieces and nephews, who will cherish his memory and the countless moments they shared as a family.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tim Bennett and great-grandchildren, Winston and Theodore Bennett.
To celebrate Barry's life, a funeral service will be held on October 15, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring him and paying their respects. A public viewing will be held from 10:00 AM - 12 Noon prior to the service at Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Barry will be interred at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 in care of the funeral home.
