Barry Brand

Tupelo-Barry Brand passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Diversicare Health Care Facility following a lengthy illness. He was 82 years old. Born September 16, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York, Barry was the son of Harold and Rieva Rosenberg Brand. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. While stationed in Daytona Beach, Florida, Barry met the love of his life, Carolyn Baskin, and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage. Barry had a strong work ethic and excelled at his career. He worked as an electrical engineer calibrating navigation equipment on international seismic oil ships. In 1996, Barry became employed by Tecumseh Products which brought him and Carolyn to Tupelo. A man of many interests, Barry was a member of the Tupelo Ham Radio Association. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
Barry leaves behind his wife, Carolyn Brand of Tupelo; his daughter, Barbara Brand of Southport, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Jake and Sydney Overton, also of Southport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Rieva Brand, and a brother, Andrew Brand.
