Published by Legacy on Jun. 30, 2023.
On Wednesday, December 26, 1956, Barry Elon Davis, Sr. was born to Eutrich Jr. and Dr. Betty Davis in Greensboro, North Carolina. During his formative years he attended Bladen County schools in Elizabethtown, North Carolina and Washington Drive in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was a proud member of the 1975 class at Reid Ross High School, where he was the quarterback of the football team and he also managed a band made up of a few neighborhood friends "Evolution". He even managed to get them on as an opening act for Millie Jackson. He worked at the family cleaners, Melvin's, in Fayetteville and loved his fast cars. Upon graduation, he attended Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 1980, Barry married his High School sweetheart, Joyce Smith, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and they had a daughter, Kelli Davis. Barry purchased a semi-truck and began driving long distance, following in the footsteps of his grandfather. He worked for Leonard Brothers Trucking and Lewis Truck Lines. During his many travels he would bring his family along from time to time or bring them back gifts. Kelli had the largest teddy bear collection this side of the Mississippi. After a few years he relocated his family to Raleigh, North Carolina and worked a short period with Oxford Printing Company. In 1989, Barry met his forever love, Jacqueline Edison, in California. The two were married on June 6, 1991 in Compton, California. Born of this union are Barry Davis, Jr. and Bria Davis who were both born in Harbor City, California. In 2001, the family was transferred to Sugar Land, TX by ITS Technologies Train Company (Union Pacific) to continue the work that he started in Los Angeles. He also started driving school buses for Fort Bend County Schools. In 2021 Barry, alongside with his son Barry Davis Jr., began their own start-up painting company, Better Things USA LLC. Throughout Barry's entire life he had a great love for fishing, telling jokes, playing the lottery, enjoying life with his wife, fixing things, helping others and celebrating the accomplishments of his children and grandson.
