Leon Barry Rhodes was born in Natchez, Mississippi, on June 25, 1967, the son of Leon Edward Rhodes and Barbara Barry Rhodes of Natchez. His life was tragically cut short at the age of 57 on January 15, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his father with whom he shared a remarkable bond. He is survived by his loving mother and by his daughter, Caroline Grace Rhodes, of Natchez, the light of his life; his son, Ryan Rhodes of Natchez, who he loved dearly.
He also leaves to miss him his sister, Margaret Ewald (Karl) of Seabrook, South Carolina;
nephews, Karl Ewald IV of Arlington, Virginia, and Andrew Ewald of Austin, Texas; uncle,
Richard Rhodes (Betty Jo) of Natchez; aunt, Beth Barry Geisenberger (Sam) of Covington,
Louisiana; the mother of his children, Rhonda Rhodes of Natchez; stepson, Zachary Simmons
(Sarah), and grandsons, Wyatt and Ethan of Petal, Mississippi; girlfriend, Mandy Wisner, of
Ferriday, Louisiana; and his LBR Construction crew, who he considered to be family.
Barry attended both Trinity School and South Natchez High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Natchez and proud owner of LBR Construction.
Barry was a truly remarkable man, cherished by all who knew him. With a kind and rare soul, he was a giver, a provider, and a steadfast rock for many. Barry's presence was like a beacon of light-he made it his mission to bring laughter and smiles to those around him every single day. He never met a stranger, always eager to strike up a conversation with anyone willing to listen.
A true animal lover, Barry had a deep affection for all creatures, sharing a special bond with his beloved dogs, Lana and Chloe, who will feel his absence deeply. His love was unconditional, and being loved by him was a gift unlike any other. Barry's heart was devoted to his family, his friends, his work, his boat, and the life he built on Lake St. John. His absence will leave an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Natchez with a short visitation to follow in Stratton Chapel.

I am so saddened by the news of Barry´s passing. I live in Dallas and bought an historic house in Natchez in 2023. Somehow by the grace of God, I found Barry to work on the renovation. I had no idea what I was doing and Barry made everything easy. We often talked about life and his family, who he loved so dearly. I will forever be grateful for knowing him. Prayers and love to the family.

Barry, so quickly you became a part of our family. For me, I that speed was due to one thing - the love you felt for my sister was obvious and palpable.

You gave the very best hugs and were always looking for the best in people.

I'll miss you, Barry. I'm so grateful for having known you. Love, Dawn

I have a lot of great memories with Barry in school. I still would run into him throughout life occasionally. He was the sweetest guy and I know he will be missed so much. Praying for his family.

I met Barry as a 19 yr old girl. We dated and later married for 20years. We had 2 beautiful children and Barry had 1 stepson and our daughter in law that he adored. We had 2 incredible grandchildren that Barry was so proud of. Barry never met a soul whose life wasn't better for knowing him. He was our rock ,our provider, and the leader of our family. He will be forever missed as he is and always will be irreplaceable. You go rest those weary bonesy love. I'll see you when I get there
