Barry Paul Struski, 57, of Carver, passed away surrounded by his family on the morning of Sunday, November 9, 2025.
Born in Newport Rhode Island on March 16, 1968 he was the son of Barry and Carole Struski. After spending the first few years of his life in Newport RI, and then Holbrook MA, at the age of 6 the family moved to Carver MA, where he would spend the rest of his life.
Barry attended Plymouth Carver High School where he was the captain of the Cross Country and Track Team. After graduating in 1986, Barry was accepted to Southeastern Massachusetts University (currently known as UMass Dartmouth). Although he didn't continue running in college, Barry was a very active member of his college community. He was a DJ for the college radio station, he was a student advisor, and a leader of Beat Academic Probation (BAP) which helped struggling students improve their academic performance.
But the most monumental moment of his college career took place in his sophomore year when Barry met his future wife, Randi Glazier. Even though Barry was tutoring Randi in Biology it was he who learned they had real chemistry together. After being the hottest couple on campus, Barry graduated in 1991with a bachelor's degree in history and married Randi in June of that same year. After a brief stint at an apartment in Plymouth, in 1992 Barry and Randi bought their forever home in Carver where Barry lived the rest of his life.
Barry began his professional career in the retail management in 1992. After several years he made the switch to the financial industry. And in 2007 he started working at Rockland Trust, the company that would provide him with his dream job. Barry was able to use his constant positive attitude and his gift for storytelling to train new employees and work his way up to Assistant Vice President – Sales Training Manager.
In addition to his professional success, Barry was able to pursue his love of all things history throughout his life. He worked at the Paul Revere House in Boston. He provided historical walking tours of the town of Plymouth. He loved his seasonal job at the historic Plymouth Wax Museum.
Barry was an incredibly active member of his community throughout his life. He was a member of the Carver School Board where he eventually became Chairman and led the charge to get a much-needed new elementary school built. Later, he served on the Carver Finance Committee. And he was thrilled to have the opportunity to participate as cast member in the Hedge House Museums production of a Christmas Carol.
Barry had a wide variety of interests and was incredibly open to learning new things. He loved old movies and reading. He endeavored to see all the movies on the Library of Congress National Film Registry. He was in the process of reading all the number one best selling nonfiction books ranked by The New York Times since 1986. He was actively trying to visit every state park in Massachusetts. He ran multiple 5K's. He loved going for walks in Plymouth. He loved his rescue dog, Winston. And sports! He loved Boston sports!
As much as he loved his work, his community, and his hobbies, it all paled in comparison to the love he had for his family. The love he felt for his wife, Randi, his son, Scott, and his daughter, Shana, was palpable. He was happiest when he was with them. And that love was felt even further as it radiated out to his extended family, friends, and coworkers.
Barry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Randi Struski, his son, Scott Struski, his daughter, Shana Struski. In addition, he leaves behind his adoring mother, Carole Struski, his brother Matthew Struski, his sister-in-law Valerie Struski, his niece, Rain Struski whom he loved very much, and his mother-in-law, Mary Glazier. Barry was predeceased by his proud father Barry Struski Sr, and his loving father-in-law, Larry Glazier.
Barry was loved by everyone who met him and will be missed by all.
An hour of visitation will take place from 11-12:00PM with a service set to begin at 12:00PM on Saturday, November 15th at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A graveside service will immediately follow at Central Cemetery in Carver.
