Bart E. Kennedy was born at the Boone County Hospital on October 22, 1955, to Raymond and Janice (Kennedy) Kennedy. Bart attended Garfield Grade School and Boone Jr. & Sr. High School, graduating from the class of 1973. His athletic achievements include being a three-time state qualifier and a two-time place winner in wrestling. He earned a scholarship to wrestle at Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove, IA.
After college, he worked for Polk County Engineers, retiring after 36 years. He married Janis (Shupe) Kennedy in the fall of 1993 at the Little Brown Church. Jan (his wife) passed away in 2010, that same year he retired, and a few years later, he moved back to Boone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mom, and Dad.
Bart is survived by his brothers, Jeff (Pattie) Kennedy of Arvada, CO, and Todd (Debby) Kennedy of Moingona, IA, and his sister, Jana (Scott) Jones of Collins, IA. He was a beloved uncle and great uncle to Zachary (Charla Zsidisin), and Payton Kennedy of Colorado Springs, CO; Joshua (Heather), Kaylee and William Kennedy of Arvada, CO; Kaleb Kennedy of Arvada, CO; Nathan (Heather), Clark and Avery Kennedy of Westminster, CO; and Cory (Nicole), Camryn and Adelynn (Bruce) Kennedy of Collins, IA; Heidi (Brandon), Thomas and Nora Harrison of Des Moines, IA; Ryan (Nicole Hereen) Kennedy of Norwalk, IA; Jacob Engle of Ankeny, IA; Samuel (Audra) Engle of Waukee IA; Ithica Jones of Grimes, IA; Teara (Andrew) Tjaden of Cedar Falls, IA; and Gunnar Jones of Grimes, IA.
A celebration of life will be from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course Clubhouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to use at their discretion.
