Bartola Estrada Portillo De Chaparro: A Life Well Traveled and Deeply Loved

Bartola Estrada Portillo De Chaparro, a devoted matriarch whose life was defined by unconditional love and vibrant joy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at St. George Hospital, just a couple of months after celebrating her 95th birthday. She was born on August 24, 1930.

Bartola's journey began with love and hard work alongside her late husband, Rosario Chaparro Prieto. In their early years, they built a life together farming in Texas. Bartola had a spirit of adventure; she greatly enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. Her dedication to family led them west. Following her children Julia, Sonia, Juany, and Maria Lupe, they settled near the new casinos in Las Vegas and Mesquite, finally making her home in Littlefield, Arizona.

Bartola was truly "everyone's mom and grandma," opening her heart and home to all. She was loved by all the people in her community, leaving a lasting, positive impact wherever she lived. Her greatest joy was seeing her family grow; she experienced the rare pleasure of seeing five generations thrive. A powerful and cherished memory of her warmth and passion for life lives in every single person she touched. She has now been reunited with her beloved husband, Rosario Chaparro Prieto, beyond this earth.

Surviving Family

Bartola is also survived by her brother, Clemente Estrada Portillo.

Bartola Estrada Portillo De Chaparro, una matriarca devota cuya vida se definió por el amor incondicional y la alegría vibrante, falleció en paz el sábado 1 de noviembre de 2025, en el Hospital St. George, tan solo un par de meses después de celebrar su 95º cumpleaños. Nació el 24 de agosto de 1930.

El camino de Bartola comenzó con amor y arduo trabajo junto a su difunto esposo, Rosario Chaparro Prieto. En sus primeros años, construyeron una vida juntos dedicados a la agricultura en Texas. Bartola tenía un espíritu aventurero; disfrutaba enormemente de viajar y ver el mundo. Su dedicación a la familia los llevó hacia el oeste. Siguiendo a sus hijos Julia, Sonia, Juany y María Lupe, se establecieron cerca de los nuevos casinos en Las Vegas y Mesquite, para finalmente establecer su hogar en Littlefield, Arizona.

Bartola fue verdaderamente "la madre y abuela de todos", abriendo su corazón y su casa a quien lo necesitara. Fue amada por todas las personas de su comunidad, dejando un impacto positivo y duradero dondequiera que vivió. Su mayor alegría fue ver crecer a su familia; experimentó el raro placer de ver prosperar cinco generaciones.
