Barton Paul Phillips, age 81, of Fredericksburg, IA, formerly from Fort Atkinson, IA, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Aase Haugen Senior Living in Decorah, IA.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, IA. Burial will be held at the St. John's Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Barton was born on June 10, 1943, to James Phillips and Mary (Snyder) Phillips. He graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1962 and was in the US Army from 1966-1968, stationed. in Puerto Rico.
Barton had a very kind and appreciative personality. He enjoyed reminiscing about the past, keeping up with current events, and watching ball games on TV.
He worked multiple years at Meinerz Creamery, later called Con Agra Foods in Fredericksburg, Iowa." He was a dedicated and hard worker
He also worked for Various farmers and Carpenters in the area, helping them with numerous tasks, including demolishing old buildings. He was always offering a helping hand.
Barton is survived by one sister-in-law, Geraldine (Ben) Phillips. Cresco, Ia. Nieces and nephews, Betty Ehler, Canton, MN, Bob (Sue) Phillips, Harmony, MN., Sandy (Roger) Marzolf, Preston MN., Chuck (Ellen) Phillips, Faribault, MN. Julie Kruse Ellis, Phoenix, AZ; Brian Kruse (Dawn Severson) Fort Atkinson, IA; and many great nieces and nephews.
Barton was preceded in death by his parents, Sister and brother in-Law, Beatrice and Joe Kruse, Two brothers, Ben Phillips and Bernard Phillips, and a special friend of many years, Janice Koch.
