Basil Ray Johnson, 46, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, after a battle with cancer.
Basil was born on May 1, 1978, to Kenneth T. Johnson and Shari Diane Fair Drinkwater in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was in band during his high school years where he played the clarinet and the snare drum. After graduating from Wewoka High School in 1996, he went on to further his education at ECU. He was a jack of all trades and had a range of specialties from the medical field to remodeling homes.
Basil met LaTonia in 2019, and they were married in May of 2022 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Basil spent his free time playing pool, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play, shooting his guns, playing paintball and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding Basil in death were his mother, Shari Diane Fair Drinkwater; grandmother, Erma Jean Fair; grandfather, Booker T. Johnson; grandmother, Elizabeth Sara Wise; and niece, Kennah Johnson.
Survivors include his father, Kenneth T. Johnson, Sr. of Seminole; his wife, LaTonia Johnson of the home; six children: Breanna Johnson-Hand and Kenneth Hand, Caden Johnson, Stormy Johnson, JayLan Johnson, Areyona Morgal and Rose Johnson; grandchildren: Ainsley Leetka, KyRee Kelley, Christopher Kelley, Kingsleigh Johnson, Jayven Johnson and Tayen Gunns; siblings: Robert Duke and George of OKC, Rhonda Fair of Wewoka, Kenneth Johnson, Jr. and Adrianna Wood of Seminole, and Kennetha Johnson and Trevon Ramsey of Seminole; many nieces and nephews: Maliyah Spencer, Martez Johnson, Harmony Johnson, Kenneth T. Johnson III, Kylis Johnson, Kyrian Johnson, Davionna Fair and Kylee Williams; one great nephew, Ryker T. Ervin; and a host of aunts, uncles and friends.
Basil Ray was a loving husband and father to all of his children. He worked hard for what he had and that was something that we all loved about him. He touched so many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2024, noon to 7:00 p.m., at AE Funeral Services Chapel, 603 W. Independence St., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74804.
A funeral service will be held Monday, October 28, 2024, 2:00 p.m., at New Life Church, 121 W. 12th St., Wewoka, Oklahoma 74884.
