Donald D. DeVault, 69, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on July 30, 2025, after living with Alzheimer’s disease for an extended period. He was born at Ft. Leavenworth Base, Kansas, on March 9, 1956, to Francis DeVault and Doris (Whitehurst) DeVault.

Following his graduation from Midwest City High School, Donald joined the United States Navy. Donald earned a journalism Bachelor’s degree after his Navy service. He met his future wife after he began working for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Donald retired following a 36-year career. He married Cheryl on February 20, 1993, at the First Baptist Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Spending time with his wife and two stepchildren were Donald’s favorite activities. He loved family vacations, time at the beach, or just hanging out. He enjoyed 20 years as an OU Football season ticket holder and was there for the 2000 National Championship. He enjoyed OKC Thunder games, science fiction movies, comic books, and time with grandchildren. He never really outgrew his love of playing in the snow and building snowmen. He was a kind funny soul and loved to laugh.

Donald’s parents, Frank and Doris DeVault, and his brother, Frank DeVault, passed away before him.

Loving survivors are his wife of thirty-two years, Cheryl DeVault; daughter, Carina Amrine and son, Davon; son, Dustin Amrine and wife, Ashley, and children, Deacan and Carissa; sister, Catherine Hutchinson and husband, Rob; sister-in-law, Donna DeVault; brother, Darl DeVault; aunt, Barb DeVault; niece, Danielle; nephews, Nathaniel and Patrick; other family members and a host of friends.
