Bayani P. Samonte, 68, of Lahaina, passed on June 9, 2025, in Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku.
On July 7, 2025, there will be a Night wake from 5p-8pm at Nakamura Mortuary, viewing & services will be held July 8, 2025, at Nakamura Mortuary from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, burial will follow at Maui Memorial Park.
Bayani was born on February 23, 1957, in Rosario, Cavite, Philippines, the third child of eight of Edilberto and Esmeralda. Among his silblings - Armi, Rodolfo, Cynthia, Guillermo, Nelson, Danilo, and Ricardo as well as Felicito - he was known for his quiet strength, gentle nature, and deep sense of responsibility.
Before settling down in Maui, he ventured abroad and worked in Japan, taking different jobs with unmatched dedication. When he returned to the Philippines, fate brought him to his love of his life, Anastasia A. Samonte, married for 33 years on May 12, 1992. He is survived by his wife, 2 children Christian (son), Alissa (daughter), and 3 grandchildren Nathan, Lance, and Jayce.
He worked two jobs - as Utility at Aston Ka'anapali Shores and Steward at Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa. He took pride in his work and didn't complain.
Many of you knew him as warm and easy-going companion, great sense of humor, while sharing meaningful conversation with meals and playing games.
It hurst so deeply to say goodbye, but we also find comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace. No more pain, no pain worries, only rest and eternal embrace of God's love. His memory will forever live in our hearts.
