Estrellita "Lita" Vanta Samonte, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 75 in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Cavite City, Philippines, on August 1, 1949, Lita's journey was marked by an unwavering spirit of joy and resilience, which she carried with her across oceans.
She met the love of her life Soliman Samonte in her hometown of Cavite City. They then immigrated to San Antonio, nurturing a family that became their pride and joy. She was a cherished mother to Toumil Reza, a caring stepmother to Manuel, Artemis, and Soliman Jr., and a doting grandmother to nine grandchildren. Lita is tenderly remembered by her faithful siblings "June" Bienvenido Jr., Ernesto, Marietta, Alberto, Ruben, Ramon, and Vesmina, and by a multitude of cousins, in-laws, nephews, and nieces. She joins her beloved parents, Bienvenido and Josefina, and dear brothers, Wilfredo and Mario, in eternal rest.
Professionally, Lita was a dedicated billing analyst and an enthusiastic realtor. Lita graduated from San Sebastian College where she was a member of Kappa Gamma Sigma sorority. In her spare time, she loved playing crossword puzzles and word games, cheering for the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys, reminiscing with her friends at their high school and college reunions, playing mahjong with her family, and watching Korean dramas. Her delicious cooking was an expression of her love, as she delighted in creating dishes that brought her family and friends together. Travel was another joy for Lita; she found excitement in exploring new places and cultures, embracing the beauty of the world with open arms.
Lita's faith was the cornerstone of her life. It gave her strength during her courageous battle with cancer and provided comfort to her loved ones in times of sorrow. Her unwavering belief in the power of prayer and the promise of eternal life was a source of inspiration and hope to all who knew her. In her darkest days, Lita would fervently pray from Psalm 25:5: "Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are my God, my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."
We lovingly carry memories of dear Lita in our hearts.
