Beatrice Hux

Beatrice Hux, age 87, of Somerset, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025 at 4:27 p.m. Born to Horace and Nannie Hicks in Somerset, Texas, Beatrice lived a life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and community.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn R. Miller, and her second husband, John B. Hux. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Henserling and Maurine Nixon, and her brothers, Earl Hicks, Carlton Hicks, Harvey Hicks, and Arthur Hicks.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Shows and her husband Mark, Diecy Roby and her husband Ray Wayne, and Glenn Miller and his wife Kathryn. Beatrice was a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren, great grandmother to twenty greatgrandchildren, and a great great grandmother to one great greatgrandchild. She is also survived by her identical twin sister, Bernice Schupp of Poteet, Texas, and her brothers, Edman Hicks and his wife Mary of Cibolo, Texas, O'Daniel Hicks of Syracuse, Utah, and Robert Hicks and his wife Janet of Cibolo, Texas. A loyal and steadfast member of Old Rock Baptist Church in Somerset, Beatrice's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her in her roles as a mother, sister, and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her loved ones will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Services for Beatrice are scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Hurley Funeral Home, starting with a visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Hurley Funeral Home, starting at 10:00 am followed by interment at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet.
