Beatrice Schwartz Obituary

Active in her community, beloved great-grandmother of three, 93
Beatrice "Bea" Schwartz, age 93, left us peacefully at her home May 27,2025. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Charles "Charlie" Schwartz, her parents Francis and Susan Shaw, and her brother and sister-in-law, Richard "Dick" and Jean Shaw.
Bea is survived by her three loving children Charles "Chuck" (Christine) Schwartz, Suzanne (Harry) Carmona and Carolyn (Ralph) Lanza, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
After her graduation from New Dorp High School, Bea dedicated over four decades working as an office manager to Dr. G. Pittinos and then to Dr. N. El-Maraghy. Upon retirement, Bea volunteered at the Montessori Preschool as well as at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home. As a lifelong parishioner of St. Christopher's Church, Bea faithfully attended weekly Sunday mass and adoration.
Bea's hobbies included reading, gardening and decorating but the one thing that most notably brought her the most joyous moments were those spent with her grandchildren. Her warm and encouraging smile will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends and family from 4-8 PM on Sunday, June 1st at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, in Staten Island, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 2nd at St. Christopher's located at 130 Midland Ave Staten Island, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Jt took me a minute, but as soon as I read where she worked,I was immediately taken back to the late 1970's, sitting at the little table in Dr. Pettinos office, and the sweetest lady,"Miss Bea" who always made me feel better when I had to get a needle, and always knew that I liked grape lollipops. When you're an adult who had a sometimes painful childhood, you always remember the people who made you feel safe. Miss Bea was one of those people for me through my entire childhood. I never, ever forgot her,nor will I ever. There aren't many people that special and that kind that have ever walked this Earth. Bless her legacy, and to her family, just know she made a real and lasting impact in many generations of children.
