Becky Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buchanan Funeral Service on Apr. 29, 2025.
"Becky's story as left in her own handwriting!"
Becky was born in Chickasha, OK, to parents John and Bonnie King. The family moved
to the Bethany–Putnam City area when she was in the 8th grade. She attended Putnam
City in the 9th grade and graduated with the Class of 1951. During her senior year, she
was treasurer of the pep club, a runner-up for Annual Queen, and crowned Basketball
Queen. She also played on the basketball team. Her graduating class remained close
over the years - in 2005, thirty-four classmates took a cruise aboard the Norwegian
Spirit to Alaska and had a wonderful time.
In 1953, she married L.G. Wellner Jr. and together they had two children: a son, Danny
Wane (deceased), and a daughter, Dana. She was a proud grandmother to Nicole
Weidman (Phillip) and great-grandmother to Scarlett. Becky and L.G. were married for
50 years before his passing in July 2003.
The following year, she married David A. Bailey, a fellow member of her graduating
class who had also lost his spouse of fifty-two years. In 2006, David had a stroke, and
Becky lovingly cared for him for eleven years, until the final four months of his life when
he had to be placed in a nursing home. He passed away in August 2017. Through her
marriage to David, Becky gained a second family, whom she dearly loved: his son Daryl
(deceased), daughters Theresa and Rene, eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-
grandchildren.
Becky was preceded in death by her siblings - brothers Charles, Gene, and Ray King,
and sister Peggy Babbitt - as well as her son-in-law, Ralph Croy. She retired from
Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was a member of Putnam City United
Methodist Church. After David passed, she sold her home in Surrey Hills and moved to
Epworth Villa, where she spent the rest of her life in a warm and caring retirement
community.
She was thankful every day for the wonderful life she lived and for the family,
friendships, and memories that made it so special.
