Ben Fireman Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Epstein Memorial Chapel - Columbus on Jan. 6, 2025.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ben Paul Fireman, a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend to all whose lives he touched, on January 3, 2025. Ben lived a rich and fulfilling life filled with love, curiosity, and an enduring commitment to his family.
Ben was a pillar of strength and resilience, his life a testament to the values he held dear. He was a man of great integrity, humility, and wisdom, whose journey began in Marion and led him to touch countless lives in Columbus, New York, St. Louis, and Hollywood, where he spent the majority of his life. What defined Ben was not what he did, but who he was. He was a devoted student of the Jewish faith, enjoying Chevruta study, and participating in philanthropic events within the Jewish community. He loved reading, discussing current events, playing tennis and staying active, despite the physical challenges which marked his final years. Ben's family was the center of his world. His love for his wife, Eva, the cornerstone of his life, and his love for his children, Micha and Naomi, and his son-in-law Noah, were immeasurable.
In the words of the Jewish tradition, "The righteous, even in death, are regarded as alive" (Babylonian Talmud, Berakhot 18b). Ben's spirit, his kindness, and his dedication to his loved ones and to the Jewish community will continue to live on through Eva, Micha, Naomi, Noah, his siblings, Ted Fireman, Judie Ashkenaz, Steve Fireman, and his numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be fondly remembered by the many extended relatives and friends who were blessed to know him. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Sylvia Fireman.
A chapel service in remembrance of Ben will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST at the Epstein Memorial Chapel, located at 3232 East Main Street, Columbus, OH, 43213 with interment to follow at The New Tifereth Israel Cemetery 2565 Performance Way. Shiva in Columbus will follow the graveside service at the home of Ted and Lori Fireman, with evening services and kaddish beginning at 5:30 PM and the following Thursday, January 9th 2025 at the home of Steve and Janet Fireman from 3 PM- 6 PM. Shiva will continue in Hollywood, Florida at the home of Eva Fireman on Sunday from 10 AM-4PM and Monday from 4 PM-7PM.
In celebration of Ben's life, we encourage you to leave memories and upload photos to the memorial page. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, he is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. May his memory be a blessing.
In remembrance of Ben's life and commitment to justice, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made to American Jewish World Service or National Public Radio (NPR).
