Benedict H. Mueller

Benedict H. Mueller, 84, of Troy, IL, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Eden Village surrounded by loved ones. Born Tuesday, February 15, 1938, in Mascoutah, IL, Dick was the son of Herman and Rosa (Ottensmeier) Mueller. He married Mary Ann (Vollet) Mueller on May 10, 1961 in Trenton, IL. Together they lived a life filled with love and happiness built on a foundation of faith. Dick was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Dick retired after 37 years from the terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis and with his wife, Mary Ann, owned and operated While U Watch Shoe Repair in Wood River, IL; he was also a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years; son, Kevin B. Mueller; brothers, Alfred, Francis, Martin, Benjamin and Ralph; sister Johanna; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Surviving are his children, Randal F. (Dorinda) Mueller of Alton, IL, Lisa (Christopher) Palus of Hayes, VA, Daniel (Theresa) Mueller of Troy, IL, Lori (David) Reid of Troy, IL, and Karen (Leander) Mathews of St. Louis, MO; a daughter-in-law Pam Mueller of Carlyle, IL; his grandchildren, Jacqueline (Brandon) Uhler, Alexis Mueller, Kristina (Anthony) Davis, Alexander Palus, Shanan (Anna Marie) Mueller, Zachary (Rachel) Mueller, Elizabeth Mueller, James (Olivia) McQueen, Thomas (Rachel) Ellick, Curtis McQueen and Leanne (Taylor) Boedeker; his great grandchildren, Connor and Gavin Uhler, Savannah and Jackson Davis, Lylia Mae and Emma Mueller, Seth Lane, and Harrison McQueen; siblings, Jerome (Sally) Mueller of Belleville, IL, Mary Hogg of Lebanon, IL, Jim (Pat) Mueller of Glendale, KY, Lawrence (Thelma) Mueller of Fairview Heights, IL, Richard Mueller of Henderson, TN, Phillip (Linda) Mueller of Trenton, IL, and Thomas (Karen) Mueller of New Baden, IL; and a sister-in-law, Caroline Murphey of Springfield, IL.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11 from 9 to 10 am at St. Jerome Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors in St. Louis, Missouri.
