Benjaman W "Ben" Harriman

Benjaman "Ben" Warren Harriman, 79 of Lake City, FL passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Lake City. Mr. Harriman was born, the youngest of three children, in Readfield, Maine, to the late Edwin and Mabel Lewis Harriman. Following high school, Mr. Harriman attended and studied forestry at Paul Smith's College in Lake Placid, New York until he was drafted into the United States Army. Mr. Harriman served in Vietnam as a combat helicopter pilot. After his enlistment in the Army, he served in the Georgia National Guard as an instructor teaching pilots how to the fly the CH54 Sky Plane until he retired from the military. Mr. Harriman was a carpenter by trade. He was employed at Hercules in Brunswick, Georgia, and then worked for Mark McDonald Construction on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Griffin Harriman, Lake City, FL; his two daughters, Carmen Ryals, Metter, GA and Nicole Smith (Andrew), Waynesville, GA; one brother, Daniel Harriman, Readfield, ME; one sister, Nancy Edson (Daniel), San Marcos, TX; three step-children, Lori Stephens (Judd), Covington, GA, Robin Edge (Robbie), Brooklet, GA and Matthew Westberry (Leanne), Irwinville, GA; grandchildren, Kellie and Lexi McQuaig, Alex and Aslan Gragg, Taylor Stephens, Alissa, Ava, and Avery Watson, Morgan (son, Maverick) and McKenzie Edge; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Mr. Harriman will be held by family and friends at the Townsend Church of God on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 4:00 PM with Pastor Gary Ryals officiating.
Interment with military honors will be held at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 8819 US Highway 301, Glennville, GA 30427, on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
