The Lord saw fit to call home "Our Father" Benjamin Franklin Ervin on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Ben the son of the late Mary and Richard Ervin, Jr. was born in Darlington County South Carolina on December 15, 1933.
Benjamin attended public schools in Darlington, where he graduated "All American" from Wilson High School in June of 1952. After High School graduation he received a full scholarship to Morgan State College. While attending Morgan the Baltimore Colts Football Team drafted him. However, a fatal knee injury ended his Football career. Consequently, Ben took up playing golf, bowling, and attending horse track racing.
During the course of his life, he acquired many skills that he used throughout his career. Benjamin's primary career was that of an owner-operator of Auto Mechanic shops that included him building and repairing race cars. He continued in this livelihood until 2024.
Our Dad was an excellent provider and protector of his wife and kids; always there to give a helping hand to those in need. Benjamin, connected with everyone on their own terms and gave great advice. He loved watching "All' things sports and Westerns.
Ben, was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie R. Daughety-Ervin, and his birth mother, Sarah Ervin-Thomas.

Broadway, Jr. (grandson); siblings, Mary McNeil, Adeline Sutton, René Thomas (brother), Veronica Thomas, Johna Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand and great-grandchildren, and friends.
