Benjamin Goodwin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hope Memorial Chapel - Biddeford on Mar. 7, 2026.
Benjamin D. Goodwin, 55 of Saco, passed away March 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife and daughter were by his side.

Ben was the son of Jane Clark Goodwin and John Goodwin. He spent parts of his childhood in Kennebunk and Lebanon, Maine. He also lived in Oregon and several other states.

Ben worked various jobs in his youth including security at Fun Town in Saco and was also a fire fighter. He eventually moved into the electrical field and became a Master Electrician. He worked for a few electrical companies and eventually found a home at Casco Bay Electric where he was for the last 10 years.

Ben met the love of his life, Karen Usher, in 2004 and they were married on October 20, 2006. They moved to Saco in 2008. They welcomed their daughter, Chloe in 2011, and she immediately became the second love of his life.

Ben loved being outdoors, playing dungeons and dragons on his computer, building Legos and going to the movies. He and Karen both loved Star Wars and Marvel movies and looked forward to going together to watch any new releases. Ben also loved watching the Red Sox and the Patriots as well as going to see many Sea Dogs games over the last few years. He especially loved spending time with his daughter. He most loved going to watch her dance performances, competitions and recitals.

Ben is survived by his wife Karen and daughter Chloe. He is also survived by his sister, Stephanie Getchell and husband Greg, his brother Jeff Goodwin and wife Andrea. Father-in-law Robert Usher, sister-in-law Christine Ganem, brother-in-law David Usher and wife Kathy as well as 5 nieces and 3 nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; son Evan Goodwin; mother-in-law Maryann Usher and brother-in-law Anthony Ganem.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A short prayer service will follow at 1:00 pm.
