Benjamin Lichtman

SADDLEBROOKE, AZ-After a prolonged illness, Dr. BENJAMIN LICHTMAN passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025 in his sleep, surrounded by family at his home. He was 89 years old.
Born in Czenger, Hungary, Benjamin immigrated to the United States in 1939. He attended NYU Dental school, served as a Captain in the Army and started his Dental practice in Matawan, NJ. In 1975 he and the family moved to Fox Valley farm in Perrineville, NJ. He was an adjunct professor at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry. In retirement he traveled extensively with his wife Ellen and had a second home in San Diego, CA before settling down in Saddlebrooke, AZ 15 years ago.
Benjamin was a congregant of Perrineville Jewish Center in Perrineville, NJ. He served as President during the time of the construction of the Jewish Center and with other families supported it in any way necessary.
In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, golf, travel, and spending time with his family. He was an avid volunteer at the synagogue, Kibbutz Palmachim in Israel and many mission trips with Healing the Children around the world. He treated everyone with kindness and respect and was loved by many.
Benjamin was predeceased by his parents; Denis and Rose Lichtman.
Surviving are his wife of 66 great years, Ellen Lichtman; his sister, Eva Freundlich; his daughter, Elizabeth Lichtman Liess; his sons, Aaron Lichtman (Kim Howard), Daniel Lichtman; his grandchildren, Jason, Sarah, Rose, Reilly, Finn, Daylin, Ruby, Eliza, and Phoebe.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 2:30 pm, at Perrineville-Beth El Cemetery, 755 Perrineville Road, Millstone Township, NJ under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPEL, East Brunswick. For directions, please see "Events" below.
