Obituary
Benjamin Marcus, 50, of Orrville, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023 at St. John's Medical Center in Westlake due to complications from his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife & a few of their most cherished friends. Ben was born on Dec. 23, 1972 to Jan and Trudy (Atkins) Marcus and was a graduate of Wooster High School and the College of Wooster. On Oct. 18, 2014, he married Marcy (Siedel), and she survives. Ben has been a valuable member of the Scott's Miracle Grow family in Orrville for the past 7 years. He was always studying and learning. He enjoyed experimenting with growing different species of plants, loved the outdoors, geology, and various creative arts. He was a part of and supported by the Facebook group, Man Up to Cancer.
Ben is survived by his wife, Marcy and their children, Alexus (Danny) Crowder, Hunter Marcus, Justin (Kayla) VanDriest, Josh (Izzy) VanDriest, Courtney Van Driest, Maddy (Joe) VanDriest, Lauren Van Driest and Kendal VanDriest as well as a father figure to many others. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kamden, Liam, Dawson, Daniel Jr. and Mackenzie; his brother, James Marcus and his sister, Riyssa Greene, as well as his nephews and nieces that he adored. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
It was Ben's request to not have a fuss made or formal gathering. Memorial contributions may be made to a Local or National Park Services or to a charity of the donor's choice. He was an amazing man who was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
