Benjamin Jacob Turner was born on April 12, 2000 and entered his eternal reward on May 5, 2023 at the age of 23 years and 23 days.
He is survived by his father, Scott Kevin and mother, Denise Turner of Springfield and a sister, Rachel, her husband, Ryan Harrington and their son Everett of Seymour, MO, and Grandparents Jack and Joanne Cotterman of Belton, MO as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and his long-time beloved girlfriend, Bri Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Denzial Turner of Stockton, MO.
Ben was born and grew up at Cherry Street Baptist Church, attended AWANA and went to numerous Church Camps over the years. He was saved on September 30th and baptized at Cherry Street Baptist on October 14th in 2007.
He was very proud to be a Boy Scout and at the age of 17, achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout.
Ben worked at True Value Hardware in Willard, MO and later at Pep-Boys in Springfield, a job that he loved and where he was recently promoted to Assistant Manager and on the short-track to become the Store Manager in a few months.
For those of you that knew him, Ben was fun-loving, quick-witted, easy to talk to and he was "all boy". As a young boy he loved building things with Lego's; as a young man, he found great enjoyment in customizing his truck and working on vehicles. Ben had many friends that he enjoyed hanging out with and would spend hours with them. He also loved all small furry animals, especially kitties.
Ben had a huge heart and loved to help others. He was an organ donor. And even in his tragic and sudden departure from this life, he gave once more in a final act of selflessness. He would literally give of himself that a stranger might live.
There are no words to describe the loss. There are no words to quell the pain. We can only trust in the mercy of God and His strength to sustain us in this time of unspeakable, overwhelming grief.
Ben, you will forever be in our hearts and minds. We will always cherish the memories of you and the joy you brought us. God gave you to us to care for only a little while. Today, we give you back to God who will care for you better than we ever could. We thank You, oh merciful God, for the time we shared with Ben. Until we meet again our love always.
