It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Benjamin Alexander Wharmby, who left us on May 3, 2025, just shy of his 48th birthday. Born on May 29, 1977, in Gastonia, NC, Benji was a beloved son, brother, and uncle, and his spirit touched all who knew him.
Growing up in the Carolinas, Benji had a love for sports that showed in his die-hard support for UNC Basketball and his admiration for classic NASCAR. You could often find him working on his boats, embracing his passion for boat repair as a self-employed craftsman. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, shooting guns, and indulging in his favorite TV shows when he needed to relax.
Benji is survived by his generous-hearted family: his father, Charles Wharmby (Reeta); his mother, Carolyn Wharmby; his brothers, Charles Wharmby III and Joseph Stickle; and his niece, Savannah Stickle, who will always cherish their memories together.
Rest in peace, Benji. You will be missed more than words can express.
