Benjamin Tory Wimbs passed away at home in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 26, 2022. Tory was a valued member of the Basset Furniture Company for 43 years. He worked as Regional Sales Manger as part of a family legacy begun by his father, Hilton Wimbs. Tory was a mentor to many sales reps over the years at Bassett Furniture Industries. He loved to be #1 in sales over the years. He worked hard to achieve and succeed his goals.
He attended Harding Academy in Memphis, as well as the University of Mississippi. Tory was an avid fisherman, traveling to Spain and Canada and many locations in the United States to enjoy fishing. Always an adventurer, Tory loved to travel and discover new places. He was always the life of the party, and loved nothing more than grilling on his patio with family and friends. Tory was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee. He and wife Sondra, built their dream home and moved to Knoxville 3 weeks before his death.
Tory was a loving son, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 33 years, Sondra Roach Wimbs and son, Joshua Huskisson. He is survived by his mother, Mary Nell Wimbs; brother, Ty (Shelley) Wimbs; sister in law, Judy Wimbs; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Hilton Wimbs. Known for his kindness, generosity and love of life, Tory will be greatly missed.
A remembrance ceremony will be held at Click Funeral Home, 11915 Kingston Pike in Knoxville on Sunday, July 31 from 1-2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

The news of Tory's passing was devastating to me. I enjoyed working with him day in and day out. His work ethic will never ever be duplicated. My thoughts and sincerest prayers to Sondra, Joshua, Mary Nell, Ty, Chris and the entire Wimbs family. It gives me a piece of mind, that Hilton and Tory are reunited. Please know that you all are in my heart forever.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I met Tory 11 years ago when I joined Bassett. His kindness, humor, knowledge and his gift to make everyone at the table feel important and heard will always be a part of my memories. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to know him, laugh with him, and share the same passion for furniture! May he inspire us all to be all more inclusive of others and to laugh!

I was deeply saddened to learn of Tory's passing. Having met him (and his brother and father) in the mid-80's when I joined Bassett, I can honestly say that he had more life and more drive than any one person I've known before or since. I send my most sincere condolences and prayers to his mother, brother, wife and family. Truly a sad day.
