Benjamin Matthew "Matt" Wyant, 47, of Gonzales, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, August 21, 2025. He was born February 12, 1978, in Andrews, Texas, to Roy and Glenda (Cruse) Wyant.
Matt graduated from LaGrange High School with the Class of 1997 and went on to earn his Associate's Degree in Industrial Maintenance and Engineering Technology from Texas State Technical College in 2005. On September 12, 2008, he married the love of his life, Lea Ann Brzozowski, in
Gonzales, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and community.
A dedicated professional, Matt worked as an Area Manager for TEiC, where he took great pride in his work and in the accomplishments he shared with his colleagues. His commitment, diligence, and passion for excellence were evident in every project he undertook.
Matt's devotion extended beyond his career. He was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Gonzales, served as Treasurer of the Gonzales County Go Texan Committee for several years, and was a Trustee on the Saturn Community Center Board. His contributions reflected his deep sense of responsibility to both faith and community.
Matt was a visionary with a love for bringing people together. He founded the BBQ team "Sauced Up and Smokin'" with his friends, leading them to cook in events across the country, including the Food Network World Championship in Florida and the National Championship in Meridian, Texas. Their proudest achievement came when they earned the title of World Champion Brisket at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Beyond trophies, Matt's idea created bonds of friendship and memories shared around the pit - blessings of laughter, family, and great food.
Outside of work and community, Matt's greatest joy was his family. He lovingly called his daughter Kenley "Goose" and his son Clay "Bubba," and treasured every moment spent with them. Whether shooting clay targets, fishing for bass in the family pond, or teaching them golf, he was a patient teacher, mentor, and father who delighted in watching them grow. Together, they also enjoyed cheering on the Houston Astros and taking relaxing family trips to the El Campo Lost Lagoon. Matt loved hosting Thanksgiving, filling his home with family, friends, laughter, with his gregarious sense of humor.
Matt will be remembered as a man of deep thought, boundless energy, and generous spirit. A hard worker, loyal friend, and devoted father, he enriched the lives of all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved children, daughter, Kenley Wyant, son, Clay Wyant; sisters, Cathy Krnavek (Joe) and Melissa Jurk (Tom); mother-in-law and father-in-law, Laverne and Kenneth Brzozowski; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kenna and Stephen Lucas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lea Ann Wyant, and his parents.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the First Methodist Church in Gonzales. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the church with Dr. Matt Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in Saturn Cemetery.
