Benjamin Zodikoff Obituary

Zodikoff, Benjamin Samuel
SPRING HILL, Fla. - Benjamin Samuel Zodikoff, age 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on February 9, 2026, in Spring Hill, Florida.
Born on September 23, 1938, in Binghamton, N.Y., Ben lived a long and meaningful life defined by devotion to family, integrity, and quiet strength. After graduating from high school, he attended Penn State University, and went on to earn his Graduate degree in engineering from Yale University. He dedicated more than 30 years of his professional life as a Civil Engineer with the New York State Department of Transportation, contributing his expertise and steady commitment to projects that served communities throughout the state.
Following his retirement from the Department of Transportation, Ben continued to serve others through his work with FEMA and SEMA, bringing his knowledge and experience to important efforts that supported communities in times of need.
Ben made his home in Albany, N.Y., where he built his career and raised his family. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed time at their home in Chatham, Mass., embracing the beauty and tranquility of coastal life. In later years, he settled in his permanent home in Spring Hill, Fla.
Ben was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jacob and Ellen Zodikoff; his sister, Lillian Zodikoff; and his brother, David Zodikoff.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sandra Zodikoff; his two daughters, Susan Burns (Kevin) and Marsha Mihalak; his cherished grandchildren, Lynne, Josh, Jackie (Jon), and Melissa (James); and his six great-grandchildren, Alivia, Mason, Sophia, Sidney, Samuel, and Sienna. He is also survived by his dear nieces and nephews.
Ben enjoyed traveling, golf, tennis, fishing, and long walks. He was an avid collector, with a special passion for his extensive World War II collection and memorabilia. Above all, Ben loved spending time with his family. His greatest joy was being surrounded by the generations that followed him.
Ben's 87 years were marked by dedication, humility, curiosity, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy of service, knowledge, and devotion will live on through those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) at www.curefa.org in honor of Ben's two grandchildren.

Roy and I are so sorry about the passing of our good neighbor Ben. Always remember him outside swinging his golf club and hanging out with Charlie. He would always come across the street just to pet our dog Molly. He always had a smile on his face. He will certainly missed. Our condolences to his family. Roy and Cheryl Fiehler
