Bennie Sutton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Freeman Mortuary - Jefferson City on Jan. 5, 2026.
Bennie Charels Sutton, age 68, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his home.
He was born on October 9, 1958, in Louisiana, Mo., the son of Lonnie Sutton and Helen Frances Foiles.
Bennie attended Louisiana High School, and then later worked as a forklift operate and a sawmill worker.
Bennie was a laid-back soul with a good heart who found joy in the simple things. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and WWE, always enjoying a good game or match. He took great pride in keeping the ballfields of Louisiana neat and tidy, caring for them with dedication and quiet hard work. Bennie was skilled with his hands-learning forgery and crafting knives and other handmade items, a reflection of his patience and creativity. Music was always close to his heart, especially old rock and roll, rockabilly, and artists like Tom Petty. Bennie will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his craftsmanship, and the kindness he showed to those around him.
He is survived by his children, Benny Church, Alix Guthrie, and Blake Sutton (Falishia); brother, Robert Dennis Jess Sutton; nephew, John Huff (Jess); niece, Leslie Meyer; nine grandchildren; his beloved cat, Baby Girl; and numerous family and friends.
Bennie is preceded in death by his son, Lonnie Church; and his sisters, Judy K., Jewel May, and Julia Ann.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Louisiana Recreation Association, 202 South 3rd Street, Louisiana, MO 63353.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison St, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
