Funeral services for Bro. Benny Frank Alford, 87, of Pelican, LA will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 15, 2024 in Wallace Baptist Church 5605 Highway 177 Pelican, LA 71063. Officiating will be Bro. Lee Dickson and Dr. Jeff Jinks. Interment will follow in Wallace Cemetery, Pelican. Visitation will be at the church from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 14, 2024 under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta, LA.
Bro. Benny was born April 17, 1937 in Sicily Island, LA and passed away November 12, 2024 in Shreveport, LA.
He attended Sicily Island High School and played football as a fullback for the Sicily Island Tigers. From there, he attended Louisiana College for two years before having to return home to care for his family after the death of his father. He met his wife, Sally, at a church event and they married in 1960. In early years, Bro. Benny was a carpenter and even sold insurance before being called into the ministry. He had 45 years of service spanning all over North Louisiana. His longest ministry was at Clara Springs Baptist Camp where he made lifelong friends and ministered to many in District 8. Bro. Benny was loved by many and his legacy of love and kingdom work will continue to bear fruit for many years to come.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Wayne Alford; parents, Frank and Roberta Alford; brother, H. W. Alford; and son-in-law, David Bilby.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Sally Alford; children, Wendell Alford and wife, Christy, Robin Neal and husband, John and Tonya Bilby; brother, Robert Alford; 8 grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, Emily, Athan, Rylan, Ronnie, Marshall and Amanda; 11 great grandchildren and "Special Son", Van Woodley.
Pallbearers will be Brad Hinds, Ricky Hinds, Terry Hinds, Mark Haire, Jim Veleuman and Van Woodley. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Haire, Doyle Stockton and Chris Wray.
