Benny LeRoy Quary

Benny Leroy Quary, 95, of Prague, passed from this life to his heavenly reward Monday, May 1, 2023. Benny was born September 5, 1927, in Scranton, Arkansas, to Sidney W. and Emily Jane (Mitchell) Quary. He began working in roofing when he was 16 years old and made a life for his family. He married Mary Joyce Walker on February 6, 1947. The couple packed all their belongings in a steamer trunk and took a bus to California to live. The couple lasted a year there and moved back to the Prague/Paden area. Benny worked for Standard Roofing until 1966, when he started Prague Roofing. He later sold that company to this son in 1984. The couple later moved to Vian where they built a cabin alongside the Arkansas River. It was a favorite place for all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that would bless and enrich their lives. Benny and Mary soon moved back to Prague, where Benny stayed active with his chainsaw cutting down trees and splitting the branches into firewood. The couple just celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary in February.
Benny is preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, and a son Lester.
Those left to grieve his passing and celebrate his life include his wife Mary Joyce of the home; son Steve and wife Diana Quary of Prague, daughter Patricia and husband Jerry Seaton of Paden; son Rick Quary and dear friend Jody Fox of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law Jean Quary of Shawnee; half-brother Billy Bruce and half-sister Loretta Bruce; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A come and go visitation will begin 10:00 am Thursday, at the funeral home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery.
